COLLEGE WOMEN'S LACROSSE: CORNING GRAD GROTTENTHALER EARNS ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS AT YOUNGSTOWN STATE AFTER RECORD-BREAKING SEASON (2025-05-21)
Southern Tier Sports ReportCorning graduate Katie Grottenthaler was named a first-team all-MAC selection for the Youngstown women’s lacrosse team.
Grottenthaler rewrote the record books on offense this season for Youngstown State. She led the team in points (50), goals (43), free-position goals (21) and draw controls (76). Her 43 goals ranked third in the MAC and were also the third-most in a single season in program history.
Her goals-per-game average of 2.87 was also third-best in the conference. Her 21 free-position goals set a new single-season program record, breaking the old record of 17. Her free-position shooting percentage of 75% ranked third in the country, while her 1.40 FPG/G ranked fourth. Her 76 draw controls ranked third in the MAC, and also are the second most by a Penguin in a single season.
Grottenthaler scored at least three goals nine times, including a season-high six goals against Gardner Webb in March. She garnered at least five draw controls in seven games, including a season-high 11 against Wofford on March 3.
Grottenthaler has 59 goals in two seasons. She has 69 career points.
