HIGH SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD: CORNING BOYS AND GIRLS WIN STAC CHAMPIONSHIPS (14 PHOTOS) (2025-05-21)

VESTAL — The Corning boys and girls won the titles at the STAC Championships on Wednesday night.

The girls won at 114, with Oneonta second at 67.5. Horseheads took eighth at 32 with Elmira 14th at eight points.

For the boys Corning won at 86 followed by Oneonta at 65. Horseheads took fifth at 48. Elmira had no team points.

In the 2000 steeplechase Corning’s Kaitlyn Lee was fourth at 9:11.43 followed by teammate Liesel Despain at 9:14.98. Stella Harrison of Horseheads was seventh at 9:37.21.

In the girls 400 relay Horseheads took second in 51.79 with a team of Erica Bancroft, Mylynn Flint, Gabrielle Owes and Alexus Borek and Corning’s team of Emma Mase, Amanda McEwen, Hadley Murray and Kayle Scolaro finished fifth at 54.62.

In the girls’ 3200 relay Chinonyerem Okoro, Lauren Roche, Murray and Leila Ianovici of Corning took third in 10:37.19.

Cella McLaughlin of Corning won the 100 hurdles in 14.32 with Horseheads’ Erica Bancroft fifth in 17.81 followed by Alisyn Conway of Corning in 18.33. Selena Rollins of Elmira was eighth in 18.61.

Flint was second in the 100 in 13.09 with Mase fifth in 13.87. Zoey Brooks of Elmira was seventh in 14.37.

Corning’s Elianna Schneider was third in the 1500 in 5:03.21 with teammate Olivia Martinec sixth at 5:11.67 with Cecilia Cowen of Horseheads eighth at 5:22.14.

Borek won the 400 hurdles in 1:04.93 followed by McEwen at 1:09.56. Conway was sixth at 1:13.81.

McLaughlin won the 200 in 26.43 with Arrianna Jones of Elmira third in 27.88.  Mase was fifth at 28.33.

Schneider was fourth in the 800 in 2:27.86. Roche was third in the 3000 in 11:29.83 followed by Martinez in 11:45.40. Madelyn Wise of Elmira was sixth at 11:59.05.

Devlin, Aurora Jeliff, Okoro and McLaughlin took second in the 1600 relay in 4:14.66 with Selena Rollins, Jones, Molly Doran and Azavyanna Morgan of Elmira sixth in 4:26.45. Horseheads’ Sophie Shutter, Katrina Lapierre, Joanna Benjamin and Krislynn Dubuque took eighth in 4:34.24.

Samantha Harvey of Corning was fourth in the discus at 92-feet, 9-inches and McLaughlin won the long jump at 16-feet, 9 1/2-inches. Elly Bachert of Horseheads was fourth at 14-feet, 6-inches and Madison Farrell of Corning was sixth at 13-feet, 7 1/2-inches.

Okoro was third in the high jump at 4-feet, -inches. Madie Sweet of Corning tied for eighth at 4-feet, 3-inches.

McEwen was second in the triple jump at 33-feet, 1/2-inches with Conway fifth at 29-feet, 11 3/4-inches. Elmira’s Naudia Inness was seventh at 29-feet, 3 1/2-inches.

Sophia Cimo of Corning was third in the shot put at 31-feet. Harvey was seventh at 29-feet, 5 3/4-inches.

Nicholas Kowal of Horseheads was third in the 3000 steeplechase in 9:56.62 followed by Corning’s Ashtyn Stark in 10:38.72. Samuel Kirk of Corning was sixth in 10:54.98 followed by Horseheads’ Jack Sydlansky at 10:55.34.

Nicholas Brucie, Liam Gill, Mitch Mattison and Jacob Deneka of Corning took fourth in the 4x100 relay in 45.88 followed by Horseheads’ Marco Cipolla, Baranka Schmidt, Liam Morrissey and Harrison Hirshman.

Corning’s Charles Warner, Ryan Calkins, Cooper Bange and Gregory Homa took fourth in the 3200 relay in 8:27.90 and Logan Hornsby, Luke Dordoni, Hunter Lewis and Finn Van Buskirk finished seventh for Horseheads in 9:11.39.

Chase Luangsuwan of Horseheads was third in the 100 in 11.24. Brucie took sixth in 11.85 and Zuri Ruffin was eighth.

Ethan Wentzel of Corning was fifth in the 110 hurdles in 16.99 followed by teammate Adrian Blouin in 17.45.

Corning’s Sebastian Boutwell was second in the 1600 in 4:28.52 followed by teammate Nicholas Ferratella in 4:29.88.

Wyatt McDonald of Corning was fifth in the 400 in 51.69. Blouin was seventh in the 400 hurdles in 1:02.70.

Luangsuwan was second in the 200 in 22.52 with McDonald fifth in 23.65.

Hammond won the 800 in 1:58.96 followed by Kowal in 2:00.93. Homa was fifth in 2:02.83. Jadon Lagonegro of Elmira was seventh at 2:03.41.

Boutwell was second in the 3200 in 10:04.12 with Horseheads’ Kiran Gulati third in 10:08.27 followed by Corning’s Christopher Lawson in 10:10.11.

Dexter Badger, Calkins, Warner and McDonald took third in the 1600 relay in 3:34.85. Horseheads was seventh in 3:46.74.

Corning’s Jacob Blencowe was second in the discus at 158-feet, 1-inch with Joey Biviano of Horseheads fifth at 124-feet, 8-inches.

Biviano was third in the shot put at 45-feet, 9-inches followed by Blencowe (43-feet, 2 1/2-inches) and Calvin Cragle of Horseheads (43-feet, 1-inch).

Ruffin was second in the long jump at 20-feet, 8 1/2-inches with Badger sixth at 19-feet, 3 3/4-inches. Horseheads’ Connor Trimber was fifth in the triple jump at 38-feet, 8 1/2-inches with Corning’s Joshua Fajardo seventh at 37-feet, 7-inches.

The pole vault was canceled due to weather.
