IAC JV SOFTBALL: EDISON CAPS UNBEATEN SEASON WITH IAC TITLE (2025-05-20)
Southern Tier Sports ReportThe Edison JV softball team won the IAC Championship on Tuesday night, beating Moravia 16-4.
The win caps off an undefeated 10-0 season.
The Spartans started off the first few innings with a 3-0 lead from a few solid base hits by Teresa Carter and Haleigh Rodriguez.
Moravia was able to come back, scoring two runs in the fourth inning to make the score 3-2.
When the Spartans came up in the bottom of the fourth they were at the top of their lineup. The first three batters got on base with some walks and a base hit by Hailey Clark. With aggressive base running the Spartans were able to squeeze in two more runs.
Then, Melania Cheplick changed the pace of the game with a solid triple to center field scoring two more runs to make the score 7-2.
The Spartans didn’t stop there, they were able to drive in eight more runs in the fourth inning with more base hits from Kayla Rossi, Rodriguez and a double from Mia Huffner, making the score 15-2 going into the fifth.
Moravia was able to sore two runs in the top of the fifth. The Spartans came back solidifying the win with the final run scored by Cheplick.
Rossi went the distance on the mound, giving up six hits and striking out nine.
