STAC BASEBALL: HORSEHEADS EDGED BY VESTAL 3-2 IN STAC TITLE GAME (24 PHOTOS) (2025-05-17)
Southern Tier Sports ReportBINGHAMTON — The Horseheads baseball team was edged by Vestal 3-2 in the STAC Championship game on Saturday afternoon at Mirabito Stadium.
Horseheads started the game with a 10-2 win over Oneonta in the semifinal.
Cooper Ball worked 5 2/3 inning son the mound, striking out six and allowing three hits and two runs. Chase Mashanic worked 1 1/3 innings, allowing one hit and no runs, striking out three.
Mason Holloway was 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run, a triple, five RBI and two runs scored and Josh Stout had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.
Ball had a hit and an RBI and Zach Giammichele had a hit, an RBI and a run scored, while Micah Hays had a hit and scored a run.
Against Vestal the Blue Raiders got off to a quick start leading 2-0 in the top of the first, but Vestal got a run back in the bottom of the first, a run in the fourth and a run in the sixth.
Ball had a triple for Horseheads, with an RBI and a run scored and Stout had a double.
Trevor Reidy had a hit and an RBI and Keegan Monahan had a hit and scored a run.
Brendan Clark worked 4 1/3 innings, allowing six hits and two runs, one earned, striking out three. Monahan worked 1 2/3 innings, allowing a run on two hits with a strikeout.
