STSR PRESENTS THE DRAKE HVAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: CORNING'S ABEL AND HORSEHEADS' WOODWORTH (2025-05-16)

Southern Tier Sports Report
There were a lot of great performances this week, leading to some tough choices for the athlete of the week honors. In the end, it was Corning’s Delaney Abel and Horseheads’ Braden Woodworth who were named the Southern Tier Sports Report, sponsored by Drake HVAC Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning Athletes of the Week.

Horseheads, boys' lacrosse
Had 17 goals, including the 100th of his career, and six assists in a three game span for the Blue Raiders.

Got his 100th goal, and had seven goals and an assist in a win over South Jefferson out of Section 3. Had six goals and three assists against Union-Endicott and had four goals and an assist against Binghamton.

Delaney Abel
Corning, girls' golf
Shot three rounds, all in the 30's, for the Corning girls golf team. Had an even-par round of 37 at Corning Country Club, a one-over 37 at Watkins Glen Golf Course, and a two-under-par 35 at Corning Country Club.
