STAC SOFTBALL: THE DRAMATIC GAME THAT NEVER ACTUALLY HAPPENED (24 PHOTOS) (2025-05-15)

Southern Tier Sports Report
CORNING — It was the greatest game that never actually happened.

There were four home runs, big innings and a dramatic comeback.

Down 10-6 in the bottom of the seventh the Horseheads softball team battled back to tie Corning at 10.

The only thing is, none of it happened, at least according to STAC rules.

The game was stopped after nine innings due to darkness and STAC rules are the game starts from the beginning.

So, Friday at 5 p.m. at Horseheads the two teams will meet again in the fourth try to get the game completed.

The game was originally set for last Friday. That matchup was stopped in the first inning.

The two teams were scheduled to play Tuesday, but Mother Nature had other plans, so Thursday they were set to play in Horseheads.

Again, Mother Nature intervened and the game ended up in Corning. But, after the two teams played to a nine-inning tie the game will start back from the beginning, back in Horseheads where it was originally scheduled.

The game decides the STAC West Champion. If Corning wins they capture the STAC title and head to the STAC Tournament on Saturday.

If Horseheads win they force a playoff against Corning on Saturday, and then the STAC Tournament would be pushed back to Sunday.
