SECTION 4 FLAG FOOTBALL: BLUNT SCORES FOUR TOUCHDOWNS AS HORSEHEADS TOPS ITHACA (24 PHOTOS)(April 15, 2025) Southern Tier Sports Report HORSEHEADS — The Horseheads flag football team picked up a 24-18 win over Ithaca on Tuesday afternoon behind four touchdowns by Sydney Blunt.
Playing in a game that went from hail and rain to sunshine and back again the Blue Raiders fell behind 6-0 on an Ella Hufnagel touchdown run.
With just three seconds left in the half Sydney Blunt scored on a 20-yard touchdown run to tie the score.
Ithaca hit on a big pass play on the final play of the half, but Maggie Sullivan got a flag pull to end the half.
Huffnagel scored again for Ithaca in the second half to put Ithaca up 12-6. She looked to have a path the extra point, but Sullivan got the flag just before the end zone to keep it at 12-6.
Blunt then hit Ally Perry on a 37-yard touchdown then had a 20 yard scoring run to tie the game at 12.
Blunt then had another 20-yard touchdown run to make it 18-12 and she scored from a yard out to make it 24-12.
Ithaca got a five-yard run from Carmen Esposito to cut the deficit to 24-18, but Ithaca would not get the ball back again. ———— PHOTOS BY BRIAN FEES
