HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: CORNING MOVES TO 5-0 ON THE YEAR WITH WIN IN MYRTLE BEACH (2025-04-15)

MYRTLE BEACH — The Corning softball team scored eight times in the first three innings on their way to an 8-0 win over James Madison in Myrtle Beach on Tuesday.

The Hawks move to 5-0 on the year after scoring four runs in the opening inning of the win against a team that entered the contest 8-0.

Matti Johnston threw a four-hitter, striking out six and walking just one.

Lauren DeRosa was 3-for-4 with a double and a triple, an RBI and two runs scored and Daphne Sherman had a solo home run, while Kendall Curreri had a home run and two RBI.

Lauren Teribury had a double among her two hits, with two runs scored.

Johnston, Sophie Schoonover, Emelia Smith and Kayleigh Sparks all had hits in the game. Johnston had an RBI, Schoonover had an RBI and a run scored and Sparks scored a run.

Keana Mann had an RBI in the game.
