STAC SOFTBALL: HORSEHEADS STARTS FAST ON WAY TO WIN OVER ELMIRA (9 PHOTOS) (2025-04-07)
Southern Tier Sports ReportHORSEHEADS — The Horseheads softball team jumped out to a 9-2 lead on their way to a 9-6 victory over Elmira on Monday afternoon.
After Elmira struck in the top of the first, Horseheads had two in the bottom half of the inning and four in the second.
Elmira got a run in the third, but Horseheads got two in the bottom of the third and one in the fourth.
Elmira got two in the fifth and two in the seventh, but that’s as close as they would get in the game.
Grace Cronin had two hits, two RBI and a run scored and Aubrey Griffith had two hits and an RBI. Both players had doubles.
Reagan Burge had a double and four RBI and Megan Wolf had a double, three RBI and two runs scored.
Dylan Young and Aubrey Howe each had hits in the game. Howe scored a run and Young scored two runs.
Caitlin Yearick scored two runs in the game.
Chloe Perritt struck out three in five innings to get the win and Burge got the save, striking out one in two innings.
Addison Taft had two hits, with a double and a triple and three runs scored and Madison Smith had two hits, with a double. Addisyn Chorney had two hits and two RBI in the game.
Cate Lambert had two hits, an RBI and a run scored and Ava Sherman and Ryleigh Ogden each had hits. Ogden had an RBI and a run scored and Sherman scored a run.
Ava Cornacchio worked five innings, striking out three and Aleida Agosto worked a perfect inning of relief.
