CHENANGO VALLEY — The Horseheads softball team opened the year with a 13-5 win over Chenango Valley on Thursday.

Horseheads broke the game open with a nine-run fifth inning in the win. Chenango Valley scored five in the bottom of the fifth, but that’s all they would get in the game.

Megan Wolf was 3-for-5 with a triple, three RBI and three runs scored and she worked four innings, striking out 10 and allowing one hit and no runs.

Caitlin Yearick was 5-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles and two runs scored.

Grace Cronin had two hits and two RBI and Aubrey Howe had two hits, an RBI and two runs scored.

Reagan Burge had a double and a run scored and she thew two innings, striking out two. Chloe Perritt had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored and she threw one inning, striking out one.

Samantha Bonnell had a hit and scored two run and Aubrey Griffith had a hit and an RBI. Dylan Young had an RBI and a run scored.
