SECTION 4 FLAG FOOTBALL: BIG DAY BY BAKER HELPS LEAD ELMIRA PAST ITHACA (24 PHOTOS) (2025-04-02) Southern Tier Sports Report ELMIRA — A safety, a deflection and four touchdown passes in the first half and the Elmira flag football team rallied past Ithaca 34-18.
Down 6-0, Mariah Matias hit Madi Jones on a touchdown pass. Ella Devlin then ran in the extra point to put Elmira ahead, a lead they’d never relinquish.
Lacy Pronti recorded a safety to add to the Elmira lead and then. Matias threw a pass to Jones, that tipped off her hands and into the waiting arms of Miley Baker for the first of her four touchdowns on the day.
Matias hit Baker for another touchdown pass and then Matias ran in for the extra point to make it 22-6.
With just five seconds left in the half Elmira went to a trick play, getting the ball to Jones, who reversed field and threw to Baker, who took off on a 50-yard touchdown run to make it 28-8 at the half.
