SOUTHERN TIER SPORTS REPORT: CORNING'S NOLYN PROUDFOOT HEADLINES STSR ALL-STAR TEAM (2025-04-02)

After leading his team to a sectional title, and scoring his 1,000th career point as a freshman, Corning’s Nolyn Proudfoot headlines this year’s All-Southern Tier Sports Report Super Seven basketball team.

Proudfoot is the player of the year. He had 34 in the sectional title as Corning rallied for the win. An all-state pick last year, and this year’s BCANY AAA Player of the Year, Proudfoot scored 23 points a game this year, and was second on the team with six rebounds and three assists a game. He also led the team with two steals a game.

Horseheads’ Jack Fesetch is this year’s offensive player of the year. He averaged 16.5 points a game, and led the STAC with 81 threes. He averaged 4.3 threes a game, second in the state according to MaxPreps. Also shot 39% from three. Had 37 points against Vestal this year, and had nine threes against Vestal and U-E and eight against Dryden. Averaged four rebounds and 2.8 assists a game.

Anthony Kitching of Elmira is the defensive player of the year. He averaged 8.8 points and 8.1 rebounds a contest, while getting 1.8 steals a game.

Dash Harris of Elmira is the newcomer of the year. He averaged 7.6 points and 4.3 rebounds a game, along with 2.3 steals a contest for the Express.

The sixth-man of the year is Carter Proudfoot of Corning, who was also the sixth-man award winner in his division at the Josh Palmer Fund Classic. He averaged 7.7 points and hit 31 threes on the team. He had 50 rebounds and 38 assists on the year.

The hustle player of the year is Gabe Patterson of Notre Dame, who did a little of everything this year. He averaged 10 points, seven boards, seven assists and 2.5 steals a game.

Mike Johnston Jr. of Corning is the coach of the year. He led the Hawks to a division title and then a sectional championship.

Kyler Stevenson, Corning
* Averaged 15.8 points a game and scored more than 550 points on the season. Led team in rebounding with seven a game from a guard position and led the team at 3.5 assists a game. Averaged more than a steal a game.

James Harris, Elmira
* Averaged 14.9 points a game with 4.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists, along with 1.9 steals a game. Made 2.2 threes a game.

Mason Holloway, Horseheads
* Averaged 12.8 points a game with six boards a game along with three assists a game.

SECOND TEAM
Johnny Durr, Horseheads
* Averaged 11 points and four rebounds a game and shot 35% from three.

Mekai Daniels, Corning
* Averaged 8.2 points a game. Had 97 rebounds and 45 assists on the year. Defensive standout. Hit a three-quarter court shot to force a second overtime in a win over Horseheads.

Teigen Gill, Corning
* Averaged 4.9 points a game with 23 threes. Had 53 rebounds and 62 assists this year. Had a 2-1 assist to turnover ratio. Defensive standout.

Kohl Hogue, Corning
* Averaged 8.3 points a game. Had 65 assists and 91 rebounds this year.

Drew Slaven, Edison
* Averaged 8 points a game. Top three-point shooter on the team.

Talon LaPlante, Edison
Averaged 9.5 rebounds a game to lead all players in my area in rebounding.

Rocco Sayers, ND
Averaged 8 points and three assists a game.
