STAC BOYS' LACROSSE: CORNING USES 6-0 THIRD PERIOD TO RALLY PAST HORSEHEADS (24 PHOTOS) (2025-04-01) Southern Tier Sports Report HORSEHEADS — Corning scored six third-quarter goals to rally for a 12-8 win over Horseheads in the season opener for both teams on Tuesday.
The teams were tied at two after one quarter, but Horseheads led 5-4 at the half, before Corning outscored the Blue Raiders 6-0 in the third.
James Freeman and Joe Fucito each finished with four goals for Corning in the game.
Kohl Hogue had two goals and Clayton Smith and Tully Fratarcangelo each finished with goals in the game.
Ian Harpster had 12 saves for Corning. Corning was 6-for-24 on faceoffs.
Brady Woodworth and Griffin Stevens each had three goals and an assist for the Blue Raiders.
Zack Bennett had two assists for Horseheads and Brogan Sullivan and Seamus Lynch both had goals.
Luke L’Amoreaux finished with 14 saves for Horseheads.
Horseheads was 18-for-24 on faceoffs.
“Congrats to Corning on the win,” Horseheads coach Jason Neubauer said. “Both sides battled, but we ultimately made too many unforced errors and they capitalized on it in the third period.
“We will get back to work tomorrow, and I know the boys will respond and get ready for the next one.”
