SECTION 4 BOYS' LACROSSE: COMBINED WATKINS GLEN/ND TEAM FALLS TO SETON CATHOLIC IN OPENER (2025-04-01)

WATKINS GLEN — The newly combined Watkins Glen/Notre Dame boys’ lascorsse team fell in the season opener to Seton Catholic 17-9 on Tuesday.

“This was not the way we wanted to start the season with the new combined team of Watkins Glen and Notre Dame,” coach Geoff Crossley said. “We had two great weeks of adjusting to each other, learning each other’s tendencies, but it wasn’t enough for a good Seton team.

“We showed some signs of greatness, but the bad outweighed the good tonight. This is going to be a learning curve, but we showed a lot of heart and growth tonight, even in the loss.”

Finn Schweizer had four goals and three assists for Watkins Glen/Notre Dame and Nick D’Alleva had three goals and three assists.

Garrett Kane and Liam Smith each had goals in the game and Landon English, Sam Hole and Nick Ritter all finished with assists.

Dylan Mattoon had 14 saves in goal and Ben Chedzoy had 16 face-off wins.
