CORNING — The Corning boys’ lacrosse team is back on the field after winning their fifth straight sectional title last year.

“It’s exciting,” Corning coach Chris Hogue said. “Every year, start of the year, first week, it’s just exciting. Kids are excited. This year we’ve got decent weather too.”

That weather just adds to the excitement for the team.

“When it’s cold and windy it’s hard to stay really intense and focused and this makes it that much easier,” Hogue said.

Numbers are good, with 32 kids this year, and the Hawks are excited to see what they can do this year.

“So far, so good,” Hogue said of how the team looks. “We are excited. We have a lot of returners coming back, so we are expecting a lot from them and a lot of the new guys coming up who are going to have to step up and fill some roles as well.”
