COLLEGE SOFTBALL: EC SPLITS WITH MARYWOOD IN HOME OPENER (24 PHOTOS) (2025-03-25) Southern Tier Sports Report ELMIRA — The Elmira College softball team split a doubleheader with Marywood in their home opener on Tuesday.
The Soaring Eagles dropped the opener 9-4, before winning the nightcap 5-4.
In the night cap the Soaring Eagles scored three in the third and runs in the fourth and fifth to go up 5-1. Marywood scored three in the sixth, but Elmira hung on for the win.
Horseheads graduate Kristen Cole had a two-run double and scored a run in the game for Elmira. Horseheads graduate Rachel Lunger also had a hit in the game and scored a run, while Sophia Temple had two hits and an RBI for Elmira.
Hannah Colwill had a double and an RBI in the win.
Maryann Nobel worked 5 2/3 innings, striking out five and allowing just one earned run for Elmira in the win.
In the opener Elmira struck first with four in the opening inning, but Marywood got two back in the second and had a seven-run fourth inning in the win.
Jenna Burns had two hits and two RBI for Elmira and Brianna Ramstine had two hits and scored a run.
Cole had a hit, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.
