SECTION 4 TRACK AND FIELD: NOTRE DAME HITS THE TRACK PREPARING FOR NEW SEASON (10 PHOTOS) (2025-03-20)
By Brian FeesSouthern Tier Sports Report SOUTHPORT — It’s back to work for the Notre Dame track and field team as they are on the field preparing for the outdoor season.
“Feels really good,” Notre Dame coach Cleo Baker said. “Coming off the indoor season, we only had a week break because I took Makenna (Keough) to states a couple weeks ago. I am really excited to be back outside. Hopefully the weather holds up for us.
“I’m excited to compete against some of the local schools. Travel a little bit more, but don’t really have good facilities in indoor, so it’s nice to be able to do more tracks in outdoor.”
The Crusaders have solid numbers as the season gets going.
“I think I have 10 girls and eight boys on the roster, so a decent size at Notre Dame, a small school,” Baker said.
After Keough made states in three events during the indoor season Baker is excited to see what she does in outdoor.
“I’m excited to see what she can do in outdoor,” Baker said. “There is a new rule in outdoor track where instead of two divisions there are three divisions, so that adds more numbers on who goes to states.”
The Crusaders have a few standout upperclassmen, to go with a younger roster.
“Our team is pretty young,” Keough said. “We only actually have two seniors and one junior and the rest are underclassmen, so they have a good couple people to look up too.”
