NYSPHSAA GIRLS' BOWLING: ELMIRA LEADS THROUGH THREE GAMES, FINISHES 7TH AT STATES (24 PHOTOS) (2025-03-14)

Southern Tier Sports Report
SYRACUSE — The Elmira girls led the field halfway through the state championships, before finishing seventh at the NYSPHSAA Championships at Spares N Strikes Lanes on Friday afternoon.

I think our girls have a ton of potential and you know, with that, with us being able to bowl six, I think that gave a lot of girls some chances to score and they did a great job that first three, four games and kind of lost some steam there at the end,” Elmira coach Jimmy McCauley said.

“Madi Smith, Bella Wood, Madyson Wasicki, Abbi Hink, Evaya Gardner, Izzy Stanley stepped up for us today,” McCauley said. “It was really, really exciting for them to come. I told them they were going to surprise a couple people. Three or four games we were really where we wanted to be, just kind of lost some steam there toward the end.”

For the girls Elmira led through the first three games of the day, after shooting 1,016, 1,015 and 952 for a 2,983 over the opening three games. They were up 69 pins through three games.

In the next three games Elmira shot 934, 897 and 880 for a 2,711. Overall Elmira shot 5,694.

North Rockland won with a six-game total of 5,915. They shot 957-939-1,018 for a 2,914 in the first three games and then 992-956-1,053 for a 3,001.

Madison Smith led Elmira with the fifth-best series of any individual on the girls side. She shot 233-238-192-180-169-197 for a 1,209.

Bella Wood was 13th overall with a 225-224-173-191-195-182-1,190.

Madyson Wasicki was 36th overall for Elmira with a 158-182-185-179-190-167 for a 1,061. Abbi Hink was next and shot 193-191-196-191-156-133-1,060.

Evaya Gardner shot 184-150-206-160-176-154-1,030 and was 42nd followed by teammate Izzy Stanley at 181-180-128-193-167-180-1,029.
