OVER 200 ATHLETES HIT THE LANES FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS BOWLING (24 PHOTOS) (2025-03-12) Southern Tier Sports Report CORNING — Just over 200 athletes hit the lanes for Special Olympics Junior Bowling as part of the Regional Bowling Series at Crystal Lanes.
“It was great, we had a lot of athletes from the Southern Part of our Genesee Region that were competing in bowling today and it was a great day for competition,” said Director of Program Betsy Mihm.
The athletes have been training all year and Wednesday was a a chance to show what they could do.
“These athletes have been training in their PE classes for the bowling tournament and then today they were competing against their peers so a good day for competition,” Mihm said.
The event had bowlers of all ages.
“It was great,” Mihm said. “We had a wide spectrum ranging from five to 21, so it was all age ranges. From our young athletes, developmental sports to our competitive athletes.
