THE WEEK AHEAD: BASKETBALL TEAMS PLAY FOR SECTIONAL TITLES, TRACK & FIELD, SWIMMING & DIVING HEAD TO STATES (2025-03-02)
Southern Tier Sports ReportAs the season wraps up for some sports, it starts to heat up in others as basketball teams play for sectional titles this week.
Overall there are eight events this week, though more games could be played based on the results from sectional semifinal games.
Here’s a day-by-day look at this week’s schedule.
TUESDAY* The Notre Dame boys’ basketball team takes on Moravia in the Class C semifinals at TC3, while Horseheads is at U-E in the AA semifinals.
FRIDAY* The Elmira girls’ basketball team hosts Corning in a AAA sectional final.
* Horseheads and Corning have athletes at the NYSPHSAA boys’ swimming and diving championships.
SATURDAY* The Elmira boys’ basketball team is at Corning in the sectional final.
* The second day of the state swimming is held.
* Corning and Notre Dame have athletes at the state track and field championships.
SUNDAY* The Horseheads girls basketball team takes on Binghamton at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena.
