SECTION 4 BOYS' SWIMMING: FAST TIMES FOR LOCALS AT SECTIONAL SWIM PRELIMS (24 PHOTOS) (2025-02-20)

ELMIRA —Area swimmers advanced to the finals of the Section IV Class A boys’ swimming championships after Wednesday’s prelims at the Ernie Davis Academy Pool on Wednesday.

In the 200 medley relay Corning was first in the prelims in 1:40.56 with a team of Joey Crisco, Shawn De Pedro, J.P. Sierzant and Marvin Reimsnyder and Horseheads was next in 1:41.01 with a team of Thai and Thang Tran, Drake Ernst and Devin Sullivan. Elmira was fifth in 2:04.32 with a team of Cameron Eden, Zxander Gabriel, James Lovell and Aiden Ranck. The Corning time was a state-qualifying time.

In the 200 free Kegan Monahan of Horseheads was fourth in 1:55.08 followed by Corning’s Keith Huff in 1:57.44. Jack Casper of Corning was seventh in 1:59.17 followed by Kegan Kent of Horseheads in 1:59.70.

Horseheads’ Alexander Lotocky is in the B final placing ninth in the prelims in 2:01.97 followed by teammate Diego Savash-Acuna in 2:01.98. Corning’s Aaron Giardina (2:07.71) and Kyle Williams (2:08.44) are both in the B final taking 13th and 14th respectively in the prelims.

Crisco had the top time in the 200 IM with a time of 1:59.85, a state qualifying time by nearly a second. Thai Tran was third in 2:08.62 and Corning’s Derek Gun was fifth in 2:17.31. MJ Carro of Horseheads was seventh in 2:18.

Kaeden Martinez of Corning was ninth and is in the B final in 2:20.96. Winston Wu of Corning was 12th in 2:27.11 followed by Horseheads’ Joseph Wood (2:27.53) and Elmira’s Lovell (2:32.70). Isaac Klesh of Horseheads was 16th in 2:40.50.

Sierzant was second in the 50 free in 22.65 followed by Horseheads’ Sullivan (22.82) and Corning’s Reimsnyder (22.95), Liam Gill (23.36) and Mark Hong (23.68). Kiran Gulati of Horseheads is in the B final in 9th in 24.22 with teammate Keegan Duart 11th in 25.00 and teammate Avi Patel 14th in 25.96.

Thang Tran was first in the 100 fly in 55.53 and De Pedro was third in 57.24. Reimsnyder was fourth in 57.32 followed by Ernst (58.73) and John McKane of Corning (59.13).

Liam Kane of Horseheads was 12th and is in the B final in 1:02.66 and Lovell was 15th in 1:08.37.

Sierzant was second in the 100 free in 49.63 followed by Sullivan in 50.64. Gualti was seventh in 53.19 followed by Hong (53.29). Gill is in the B final in ninth in 53.43 followed by Kent in 54.55. Duart was 13th in 56.54.

Monahan was second in the 500 free in 5:19.05 followed by Corning’s Jack Casper (5:24.17) and Huff (5:25.77). Savash-Acuna was seventh in 5:41.69.

Wood is in the B final in ninth in 5:42.37 and Lotocky was 12th in 5:52.86 followed by Giardina in 5:53.22.

Corning was second in the 200 free relay with a team of Crisco, Sierzant, Hong and Reimsnyder in 1:32.52 followed by Horseheads team of Ernst, Gulati, Monahan and Sullivan in 1:33.52.

McKane was second in the 100 back in 57.73 followed by Thang Tran in 58.41. Carro was fifth in 1:01.15 followed by Corning’s Ethan Yarnell (1:03.01) and Patel (1:03.14). Martinez is in the B final in ninth in 1:04.03 followed by Corning’s Kyle Williams in 1:05.54.

Crisco had the top time in the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.16, getting under the state qualifying time by over a second. DePedro was second in 1:01.73 followed by Thai Tran. Both are less than a second off the state time. Guo was fifth in 1:08.84 followed by Wu (1:09.66) and Kane (1:10.65). Isaac Klesh of Horseheads is in the B final in 10th in 1:15.49 and Dayne Bush of Elmira was 14th in 1:19.49 and Gabriel was 16th in 1:20.98.

Huff, Hong, Gill and DePedro were second for Corning in the 400 free relay in 3:32.95 followed by Monahan, Gulati, Thang and Thai Tran for Horseheads in 3:37.47. Elmira’s Lovell, Henry Mletzko, Jace Barr and Bush were sixth in 4:20.09.
