SECTION 4 GIRLS' WRESTLING: RHODES EARNS TRIP TO STATES FOR CORNING GIRLS (18 PHOTOS) (2025-02-15) Southern Tier Sports Report WAVERLY — Corning’s Kaegan Rhodes earned a trip to states to highlight the efforts by the Corning Hawks at the Section IV Girls’ Wrestling Championships.
Rhodes finished second at 126 pounds to earn the spot at states.
Rhodes had pins in 42 seconds and 5:42 to get into the final. Rhodes fell to Carmen Bishop of Groton in the final but the top two qualified for states.
Lauren Mahon had a fourth-place finish at 114 for the Hawks.
Mahon had a pin in 1;09 and then won 6-2 in the quarterfinals over Ahraya Whitt of Oxford-Greene. She fell 10-0 to eventual champion Isabella Phelps of Harpursville/B-G/Sidney/Unatego in the semifinals, before getting a pin in 36 seconds to get into the third-place match.
Devon Price was sixth at 132 for the Hawks and Ava Northrup was sixth at 185, while Coraline VanSkiver finished fourth at 235.
Price had a pin in 38 seconds and another in 4:11 on the day.
Northrup pinned Kirsten Davis of Horseheads in 1:44 to get into the semifinals, then later fell by fall to Davis in the fifth-place match.
