STAC GIRLS' BASKETBALL: HORSEHEADS TOPS SV IN OT, WINS STAC WEST TITLE (24 PHOTOS) (2025-02-10)
Southern Tier Sports ReportHORSEHEADS — The Horseheads girls topped Susquehanna Valley in overtime 62-56 to win the STAC West title on Monday night.
Celebrating the team’s six seniors — Emma Kamas, Jordyn Gross, Leah Scott, Megan Wolf, Kaylyn Cook and Jessica Als — on senior night the Blue Raiders won their third straight division title and 14th overall.
Horseheads win, plus Elmira’s loss at Binghamton, got them the division title as they celebrated the six seniors who are all three-year varsity players.
Horseheads led 14-13 after one quarter, but trailed 26-25 at the half.
The Blue Raiders trailed 42-40 after three quarters. They scored 10 in the fourth and 12 more in overtime to win the game.
Kamas had 18 points and Maddie Ribble had 11, while Gross had 10.
Sammie Bonnell had nine points, Wolf had seven and Scott had five.
Als and Sadie Gustin had one point each in the game.
Kamaas had five threes. She had nine points in the first and third quarters, with three threes in the third.
Ribble had five points, with a three in overtime and Bonnell was 4-for-4 from the line in overtime. Wolf was 3-for-4 from the line in overtime.
Ella and Ava Kariam had 16 each for SV. Ella had all six Susquehanna Valley points in overtime.
