COLLEGE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: CCC DOWNS GCC AS LOCAL GRADS HAVE STRONG DAY (24 PHOTOS) (2025-02-08)
Southern Tier Sports ReportCORNING — The Corning Community College women’s basketball team picked up a 55-43 win over Genesee Community College this week.
It was a 9-8 GCC lead after one quarter, but CCC led 21-19 at the half and outscored GCC 34-24 in the second half.
TaylorRae Jones had 21 points, five steals, six boards, a blocked shot and two assists for CCC and Corning graduate Taylor Evans had 11 points, five steals, two assists, three boards and three blocked shots.
Twin Tiers Christian graduate Cherish Maglio had nine opints, five steals, four boards and a blcoked shot and Elmira graduate Laila Burchard had six points, three assists, nine boards and two steals, while Jade Duffin had six points and eight boards.
Elmira graduate Ja’Nyah Harris had two points and a rebound and Elmira graduate Rhiannon Perkins blocked a shot.
