STSR PRESENTS THE DRAKE HVAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: ELMIRA'S TAFT AND D'ANGELO (2025-02-04)
Southern Tier Sports ReportThere were a lot of great performances this week, leading to some tough choices for the first athlete of the week honors of the season. In the end, it was Elmira’s Frankie D’Angelo and Addison Taft who were named the Southern Tier Sports Report, sponsored by Drake HVAC Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning Athletes of the Week.
FRANKIE D’ANGELOELMIRA, BOWLINGHad back-to-back 700 series for Elmira last week. He had three games over 275 on the week.
On Monday D’Angelo shot 735 with games of 179 and 279 and 277. On Thursday he shot a 742 series against Johnson City. He had a 290 high game and also had games of 247 and 205.
ADDISON TAFTELMIRA, GIRLS’ HOOPSHad a go-ahead three with under five seconds left to lift Elmira to a senior night win over Vestal. The senior came through with the game-winner late, one game after she tied for the team lead with 15 points in a win over Chenango Valley. In that game Taft had a team-high six points in the fourth as Elmira rallied in the fourth quarter to win.
