SECTION 4 INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD: HORSEHEADS GIRLS SECOND AT ADD-ON INVITE (2025-02-02)
Southern Tier Sports ReportCORTLAND — The Horseheads girls were runner-up at the Section IV add-on invitational over the weekend.
Horseheads was at 46.5 with Vestal winning at 62. Elmira was sixth at 22 points and Edison had one point. For the boys Horseheads was tied for fourth at 35 points with Binghamton winning at 43.
Elmira was 15th at eight points.
In the girls’ 55 meters Edison’s Emily Aiello was sixth in 8.06 and Elmira’s Arrianna Jnes was 11th in 8.20. Horseheads’ Ari Newton was 13th in 8.36.
DJ Coprew of Elmira was third in the boys’ 55 in 6.79 and Edison’s Nikko Cheplick was 13th in 7.16. Horseheads’ Harry Hirshman was 17th in 7.28 and Edison’s Zimear Young was 20th in 7.42.
Edison’s Mayla Falank was third in the 3000 in 14:42.38 and in the 3200 Jameson Duggan of Edison was sixth in 11:45.48 followed by Horseheads’ Finn Van Buskirk in 11:45.76.
Elmira’s Ella Devlin was third in the 1000 in 3:21.54 and Horseheads’ Cecilia Cowen was sixth in 3:25.97 followed by teammate Suzanne Sydlansky in 3:27.31. Elmira’s Madelyn Wise was 10th in 3:33.93.
For the boys in the 1000 Jack Sydlansky was sixth in 3:01.72 and Elmira’s Cameron Riley was 16th in 3:16.21 followed by teammate Ryder Johns in 3:17.89.
Devlin was seventh in the 600 in 1:55.85.
Dominick Marino of Horseheads was sixth in the boys’ 600 in 1:36.28 followed by teammate Hunter Lewis (1:36.77) and Edison’s Augustus Ector in 1:37.25. Elmira’s Garrett Palmieri was 14th in 1:47.90. NIcholas Shellenberger of Elmira was 20th in 1:54.28.
Horseheads’ Sonya Dordoni was runner-up in the girls’ 1500 in 5:20.34 and Sophia Christmas of Horseheads was eighth in 5:51.03. Elmira’s Millie Kierst was 13th in 6:18.01 and Madison Palmieri of Edison was 18th in 7:27.72.
Nicholas Kowal of Horseheads won the 1600 in 4:40.40 and teammate Allen Wetmore was fourth in 4:47.43. Elmira’s Hayden Rolls was eighth in 4:59.33 followed by Max Williams of Horseheads in 5:01.59. Elmira’s Jaydan Roberts was 20th in 6:09.85.
Hannah Lasko of Edison was runner-up in the 300 in 45.19 and Erica Bancroft of Horseheads was 15th in 48.12 while Elmira’s Alexsys Bristow was 18th in 50.70.
Jadon Lagonegro of Elmira was fourth in the 300 in 38.93. Horseheads’ Luca Sa’Pereira was 15th in 41.41.
In the boys’ high jump Carver Robbins of Horseheads was tied for fifth at 5-feet, 6-inches and Elmira’s Tahje Parker-Smallw as eighth at 5-feet, 3-inches, while Darien Coprew of Elmira was 12th at 5-feet.
Horseheads’ Calvin Cragle won the shot put at 43-feet, 11 1/4-inches followed by Joseph Biviano at 41-feet, 1/4-inches.
Elmira’s Verneece Sumner was fourth in the girls’ shot put at 26-feet, 10 1/4-inches and Horseheads Amelia Reed was 10th at 23-feet, 1-inch and teammate Brianna Giblin was 13th at 22-feet.
Madison Bancroft of Horseheads won the long jump at 14-feet, 4 3/4-inches and Elmira’s Azavyanna Morgan was eighth at 13-feet, 7-inches and Ella Scibek was 14th at 12-feet, 7 1/2-inches.
Elmira’s Chase Smith was fourth for the boys in the long jump at 19-feet, 3 1/2-inches and Marco Cipolla of Horseheads was sixth at 18-feet, 6 3/4-inches. Horseheads’ Dominick Marino was 11th at 17-feet, 3 3/4-inches and Elmira’s Kirnan Underwood was 16th at 15-feet, 9 3/4-inches.
Smith was second in the boys’ triple jump at 40-feet, 1/4-inches and Jarryd Witzel of Horseheads was 15th at 33-feet, 3/4-inches with Elmira’s Darien Coprew 17th at 32-feet, 6 1/2-inches.
Madison Bancroft was fourth in the girls’ triple jump at 30-feet, 2 1/2-inches.
Stella Harrison of Horseheads was second in the 1500 race walk in 8:12.53. Carlo Cipolla of Horseheads won the 55 hurdles in 8.14 with Donato Dos Reis of Elmira 12th in 10.94.
In the girls’ 55 hurdles Erica Bancroft was fourth at 9.91 and Naudia Inness of Elmira was 11th 10.74.
