STAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: STARNS SISTERS EACH HAVE DOUBLE-DOUBLES, BUT CORNING FALLS TO U-E (2025-01-30)

CORNING — Char and Evelyn Starns each had double-doubles, but the Corning girls’ basketballt eam fell to Union-Endicott 47-39 on Thursday night.

Char Starns had 18 points and 12 rebounds and Evelyn had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Grace Kio had 12 rebounds for Corning and Makayla Evans had four points and six assists.

Dominika Diaz had 18 points and Gianna Gennarelli had 16 for U-E.

“Some nights are harder than others,” Corning coach Julie Pierce said. “Tonight was one of those nights. I am proud of our effort, but we still have work to do as far as execution goes. This team will get there. They are growing in ways that do not appear on the scoreboard now, but will in time. We learn from this one and get ready for Vestal on Monday.”
