HIGH SCHOOL INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD: CORNING BOYS AND GIRLS CLAIM TITLES AT QUINNEY INVITE (24 PHOTOS) (2025-01-18)
Southern Tier Sports ReportITHACA — The Corning boys and girls won the titles at the Quinney Invitational at Ithaca College on Friday night.
Corning’s boys won at 60.5, topping Ithaca who had 55. Horseheads was sixth at 33 points. Elmira was 14th with 14 points and Notre Dame had four points to take 18th.
On the girls side Corning had 108, more than doubling the 51 of Oneonta. Horseheads was seventh at 21 and Notre Dame was 11th at 14 points. Elmira was 13th at 10 points and Edison was 28th with two points.
In the girls’ 55 meters Edison’s Hannah Lasko was fifth in 7.70 followed by Horseheads’ Mylynn Flint (7.72) and Corning’s Lauren DeRosa (7.79). Notre Dame’s Eleanor Green was 10th in 7.84 and Corning’s Brooklyn Gordon and Emma Mase tied for 17th at 7.97.
Zuri Ruffin of Corning won the boys’ 55 meters in 6.57 with DJ Coprew of Elmira seventh at 6.80. Elmira’s Ta’hjay Molina-Bacome was 12th at 7.02 with Edison’s Nikko Cheplick 18th in 7.09 tied with Corning’s Jacob Deneka.
In the 3000 Elmira’s Ella Devlin won in 11:22.37 followed by Horseheads’ Sonya Dordoni in 11:44.46. Corning’s Lillian Deuerlein was fifth in 12:15.27 followed by Corning’s Kendall Curreri (12:16.55) and Kaitlyn Lee (12:34.67). Corning’s Reese Conway was 12th in 13:24.81.
Allen Wetmore of Horseheads was third in the 3200 in 10:40.46. Hunter Lewis of Horseheads was sixth in 10:53.10. Ashtyn Stark of Corning was eighth in 10:57.15 followed by Horseheads’ Max Williams in 11:02.90.
Lauren Roche of Corning was sixth in the girls’ 1000 in 3:27.11 and Suzanne Sydlansky of Horseheads was ninth in 3:29.52. Corning’s Ella Yarnell was 16th in 3:44.12.
Nicholas Ferratella of Corning was seventh in the boys’ 1000 in 2:47.97 and Elmira’s Hayden Rolls was 15th in 2:55.23 folloewd by Corning’s Samuel Kirk in 2:56.33. Corning’s Ethan Jiang was 18th in 2:57.27 and Jack Sydlansky of Horseheads was 20th in 2:58.65.
Leila Ianovici of Corning was second in the 600 in 1:42.71 and teammate Kyra Gross was fourth in 1:44.22 followed by teammate Elianna Schneider in 1:44.69. Dordoni was 11th in 1:50.47 and Cecilia Cowen of Horseheads was 12th in 1:51.13.
Jaxyn Mahoney of Corning won the 600 in 1:25 and teammate Gregory Homa was fifth in 1:29.15 followed by teammate Charles Warner in 1:29.23. Corning’s Bryce Hammond was 11th in 1:30.80.
Madelyn Wise of Elmira was eighth in the 1500 in 5:27.03 and Madie Sweet of Corning was 14th in 5:41.62.
Sebastian Boutwell of Corning was third in the 1600 in 4:32.40 and Jack Sydlansky was 14th in 4:58.50. Corning’s Christopher Lawson was 17th in 5:02.63 with Gavin Meier of Notre Dame was 19th in 5:10.13.
Cella McLaughlin of Corning won the 300 in 41.12 while teammate Mattison Johnston was seventh in 44.85. Lailana Gardner of Corning was 12th in 46.38 followed by Elmira’s Arrianna Jones in 46.84. Corning’s Aurora Jellif was 19th in 47.68.
In the girls’ 1600 relay Corning was second in 4:28.02 and Notre Dame was seventh in 4:45.34. Horseheads was 10th in 4:55.82 followed by Elmira in 5:03.18.
In the boys’ 1600 relay Elmira was second in 3:42.84 while Edison was 10th at 4:07.93. Horseheads was 13th in 4:26.24 and Notre Dame was 15th in 4:33.32.
Patrick Laney of Horseheads was second in the boys’ 300 in 37.32 while Elmira’s Braxton Houghtelling was sixth in 38.57. Horseheads’ Carver Robbins was 11th in 40.06 followed by teammate Marco Cipolla in 40.19. Dylan Currie of Corning was 15th in 40.39 and teammate Jayden Moore was 18th in 40.74.
Corning won the girls’ 3200 relay in 10:11.05. Horseheads was 10th in 12:20.65. For the boys Corning was second in 8:28.42 while Elmira was 14th in 11:46.31.
In the girls’ 4x200 relay Corning was second in 1:52.87 and Horseheads was third in 1:55.92. Edisonw as 10th in 2:02.42 followed by Elmira in 2:02.64. Notre Dame was 21st in 2:15.01. For the boys Horseheads was third in 1:36.40 and Corning was seventh in 1:43.57 followed by Elmira in 1:44.14.
Maxwell Jennings was second in the boys’ pole vault at 13-feet while teammate Ethan Wentzel was fourth at 12-feet. Corning’s Jacob Deneka was eighth at 10-feet and teammate Connor Calkins was 10th at 8-feet.
Reese Conway of Corning was second in the girls’ pole vault at 9-feet, 6-inches and teammate Lauren Williams was seventh at 7-feet.
Sweet was tied for fourth in the high jump at 4-feet, 7-inches and teammate Chinonyerem Okoro was tied for seventh at 4-feet, 7-inches.
For the boys in the high jump Antonio Campanella was fourth at 5-feet, 6-inches and Corning’s Jayden Moore tied for fifth at the same height with Reilly Wells seventh at the same height. Darien Coprew of Elmira was 15th at 5-feet and Horseheads’ Devin godwin also tied for 15th at the height. Parker Jacobous was 19th at 5-feet and Evan Parker of Notre Dame tied for 20th at the same height.
Calvin Cragle of Horseheads was fourth in the shot put at 45-feet, 7 1/4-inches and teammate Joseph Biviano was seventh at 41-feet, 3/4-inches followed by Corning’s Jacob Blencowe at 40-feet, 3-inches. Benjamin Herrmann of Corning was 13th at 38-feet, 2-inches and teammate Kai Huttleston was 16th at 36-feet, 7 3/4-inches.
Sophia Cimo of Corning was 11th in the girls’ shot put at 27-feet, 11 1/2-inches and teammates Kaydence Ector was 16th at 27-feet, 1/2-inches while Verneece Sumner of Elmira was 18th at 25-feet, 9 3/4-inches.
Cella McLaughlin won the long jump at 18-feet, 1/2-inches followed by Johnston at 16-feet, 10-inches. DeRosa was fifth at 16-feet, 1/4-inches and Azavyanna Morgan of Elmira was 17th at 14-feet, 5-inches while Corning’s Hadley Murray was 19th at 14-feet, 1 3/4-inches followed by Horseheads’ Madison Bancroft at 14-feet, 1 1/2-inches.
Dexter Badger of Corning won the long jump at 21-feet, 3 1/4-inches and Elmira’s Chase Smith was sixth at 19-feet, 7 1/4-inches. Horseheads’ Carver Robbins was 10th at 19-feet, 1 3/4-inches followed by teammate Connor Trimber at 19-feet, 1/4-inches. Wells was 17th at 17-feet, 11 3/4-inches.
Trimber was fourth in the triple jump at 40-feet, 1/4-inches and Smith was seventh at 39-feet, 10-inches. Joshua Fajardo of Corning was 13th at 37-feet, 6-inches and teammate Adrian Blouin was 18th at 36-feet, 5 1/2-inches.
Makenna Keough of Notre Dame was second in the triple jump at 36-feet, 2 1/2-inches followed by Corning’s Claire Devlin at 35-feet, 6 1/2-inches. Notre Dame’s Green was fifth at 32-feet, 8 1/2-inches and Amanda McEwen of Corning was eighth at 31-feet, 4 1/4-inches. Corning’s Alisyn Conway was 10th at 30-feet, 11 1/4-inches followed by Murray at 30-feet, 11-inches. Horseheads’ Madison Bancraft was 18th at 29-feet, 2-inches.
Stella Harrison of Horseheads was third in the 1500 race walk in 8:23.06 and Corning’s Madeline Kirk was sixth at 8:24.60 followed by teammate Anna Patton at 8:43.22. Corning’s Bethany Morey was 10th at 9:23.81 and teammate Lillian Ouyang was 1th at 9:32.61, while Sara Cupello of Notre Dame was 18th at 11:36.99.
Elmira’s boys took fourth in the 4x55 shuttle hurdle relay in 43.34. Corning was third in the girls’ shuttle hurdley relay in 41.09 followed by Notre Dame in 42.06.
Freddie Collins of Corning was sixth in the weight throw at 51-feet, 10 3/4-inches followed by teammate Logan Mullaney at 51-feet, 1 1/2-inches. Corning’s Herrmann was 11th at 46-feet, 1 1/2-inches and Huttleston was 13th at 45-feet, 1-inch. Drue Welty of Horseheads was 17th at 37-feet, 5 3/4-inches while Biviano was 20th at 33-feet, 9 1/2-inches.
Samantha Harvey of Corning was second in the girls’ weight throw at 43-feet, 1/4-inches followed by Cimo at 42-feet, 10-inches. Madelane Reynolds of Corning was sixth at 35-feet, 2 1/2-inches. Horseheads’ Amelia Reed was 16th at 22-feet, 9-inches followed by Sumner at 22-feet, 6 1/4-inches.
