HIGH SCHOOL INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD: RECORD-SETTING DAY FOR CORNING AT JACK REED INVITE (2025-01-12)

ROCHESTER — The Corning girls took third and the boys were eighth at the Jack Reed High School Invitational over the weekend.

The girls had 35 points and Cicero-North Syracuse won at 91 points. For the boys Corning was eighth at 23 points with Penfield winning at 47.

Corning’s Cella McLaughlin set the meet record in winning the 55 hurdles in 8.29. She shattered the old mark of 8.56. She set the meet record in the prelims at 8.36 then went even faster in the final. Three runners went below the old meet record.

Mattisen Johnston was 12th in the 55 meters invite race in 7.56 and in the open 55 meters Kaylee Scolaro was seventh in 7.92.  Emma Mase was 24th in 8.08 in the open 55 meters.

Leila Ianovici was 10th in 1:43.87 and Olivia Martinec was 21st in the 600 in 1:50.62. Kyra Gross was 13th in the 1000 in 3:18.82. Martinec was 21st in the 1500 in 5:16.21.

In the 4x200 relay Johnston, Mase, McLaughlin and Lauren DeRosa finished fifth in 1:48.15 and in the 1600 relay Ianovic, Lailana Gardner, Gross and Aurora Jellif took eighth in 4:28.11.

Martinec, Reese Conway, Elianna Schneider and Lauren Roche took 10th in the 3200 relay in 11:21.45.

Conway was ninth in the pole vault at 9-feet.

McLaughlin won the long jump at 18-feet, 3 1/2-inches and Johnston took sixth at 17-feet, 3 1/4-inches.

Amanda McEwen took 10th in the triple jump at 33-feet, 2 1/4-inches and Samantha Harvey was 17th in the shot put at 31-feet, 6 3/4-inches. Sophia Cimo was 22nd at 30-feet, 9-inches.

Cimo was third in the weight throw at 44-feet, 9 1/2-inches and Harvey was eighth at 42-feet, 4-inches Madelane Reynolds was 25th at 33-feet, 3 1/4-inches.

In the 55 meter dash invite Zuri Ruffin was second in 6.48. His time broke the ole meet record of 6.52, with the top three runners all breaking the old meet record. Nicholas Brucie was 21st in 6.93.  

Charles Warner was 16th in the 600 in 1:38.67 and Gregory Homa was eighth at 2:42.87 in the 1000 with teammate Bryce Hammond 13th at 2:46.97.

Homa was seventh in the 1600 in 4:30.77 and Hammond was 10th at 4:40.02 and Nick Ferratella was 14th at 4:41.91.

Sebastian Boutwell was eighth in the 3200 in 9:57.14 and Christopher Lawson was 19th in 10:23.50.

Boutwell, Ashtyn Stark, Ferratella and Michael Naylor took 15th in the 3200 relay in 9:12.08.

Wentzel was seventh in the pole vault at 12-feet with Maxwell Jennings ninth at 11-feet, 6-inches.

Ruffin was third in the long jump at 22-feet, 10 3/4-inches with teammate Dexter Badger seventh at 21-feet.

Joshua Fajardo was 21st in the triple jump at 36-feet, 9 3/4-inches and teammate Adrian Blouin was 23rd at 35-feet, 9 1/2-inches.

Benjamin Herrmann was 11th in the shot put at 41-feet, 11 1/4-inches and teammate Freddie collins was 14th at 40-feet, 11 3/4-inches. Logan Mullaney was 11th in the weight throw at 50-feet.
