HIGH SCHOOL INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD: ANOTHER RECORD-BREAKING DAY FOR CORNING (2024-12-20)
Southern Tier Sports ReportNAZARETH — It was another record-setting day for the Corning indoor track and field team this week at the RWTL Meet at Nazareth University.
Cella McLaughlin set school records in the 55 hurdles and the long jump. She won the 55 hurdles in 8.46. Claire Devlin was third in 9.47 followed by Alisyn Conway (10.10) and Chinonyerem Okoro (10.21). Amanda McEwen was eighth in 10.96 and Hadley Murray was 11th in 11.45.
McLaughlin set a school record in the long jump for the second straight meet, winninga at 18-feet, 6 1/2-inches. Devlin was third at 16-feet, 2-inches and Murray was fifth at 14-feet, 11 3/4-inches followed by Mase (14-feet, 11-inches). Laina Gardner was eighth at 14-feet, 6 1/4-inches followed by Wendy Lynch at 14-feet, 5 1/2-inches.
Zuri Ruffin broke the school record in winning the 55 meters in 6.46. Wyatt McDonald was 11th at 6.94 and Nicholas Brucie was 14th in 6.97. Ruffin had a second straight meet with over 23 feet in the long jump, winninag 23-feet, 4 1/2-inches. Dexter Badger was sixth at 20-feet, 8 1/2-inches. Reilly Wells was ninth at 19-feet, 4-inches.
Emma Mase was seventh in the 55 meters in 7.85 and Kaylee Scolaro was 13th in 7.98.
Leila Ianovici was third in the 300 in 45.27 with Mattisen Johnston fifth in 45.94 and Brooklyn Gordon seventh at 46.53. Scolaro was 15th in 47.86 and Kyra Gross was 17th in 48.08.
Olivia Martinec won the 600 in 1:45.52 and Elianna Schneider was third in 1:48.81. Reese Conway was fifth in 1:54.62 followed by Lillian Deuerlein in 1:55.04. Jordan Gridley was 11th in 1:56.91 with Madie Sweet 13th in 1:57.76. Bella Beres was 18th in 2:01.31 followed by Ella Yarnell in 2:01.93.
Martinec won the 1000 meters in 3:14.29 and Schneider was third in 3:19.15 with Deuerlein sixth in 3:39.24. Yarnell was 13th in 3:59.31 followed by Beres (3:59.84), Margo Mack (4:01.91) and Lauren Williams (4:03.37).
Lauren Roche won the 3000 in 11:34.61 with Kendall Curreri fourth in 12:25.56.
Corning won the girls’ 4x200 relay in 1:49.84 and the 1600 relay in 4:23.86, while the B relay for Corning was second in the 1600 relay in 4:42.59.
Sweet was second in the high jump at 4-feet, 8-inches followed by Gridley and Johnston tied at 4-feet, 6-inches. Macailyn York and Okoro tied for sixth at 4-feet, 4-inches and Valentina Kobyakova was 13th at 3-feet, 6-inches.
Reese Conway was second in the pole vault at 9-feet, 6-inches.
McEwen won the triple jump at 31-feet, 11 1/2-inches with Alisyn Conway third at 30-feet, 2-inches. Veronica Nevins was ninth at 28-feet, 6 1/2-inches.
Sophia Cimo won the shot put at 31-feet, 10 3/4-inches with Kailee Davis seventh at 24-feet, 1-inch and Silvana Bilcari at 23-feet, 3-inches. Madelane Reynolds was 17th at 20-feet, 9 1/4-inches.
Cimo won the weight throw at 44-feet, 7 1/4-inches followed by Reynolds at 35-feet, 6 1/4-inches. Layla ByZitter was eighth at 24-feet, 2 1/2-inches followed by Bilcari at 23-feet, 9-inches and Kailee Davis at 22-feet, 8 1/4-inches. Alyssa Ainsworth was 13th at 18-feet, 7 1/2-inches.
Madeline Kirk was second in the 1500 race walk in 8:27.33 followed by Anna Patton (8:44.53), Adeline Somma (9:31.96) and Bethany Morey (9:34.31). Lillian Ouyang was seventh at 11:23.82.
Dexter Badger was sixth in the 300 for the boys in 37.38 with Brucie 13th in 38.97 and Charles Warner 16th in 38.97.
Brycen Nale was eighth in the 600 in 1:34.53 followed by Ethan Jiang in 1:34.85. Lochlan Gill was 1th in 1:36.38. Dylan Currie was 17th in 1:37.50.
Greg Homa was second in the 3200 in 10:08.33 followed by Nick Ferratella (10:19.62) and Christopher Lawson (10:22.65). Sam Kirk was ninth in 10:52.66 and Graham Wightman was 15th in 11:09.26.
Marshall Allen was sixth in the 55 hurdles in 8.83 followed by Adrian Blouin in 9.32. Connor Calkins was 12th in 10.29 and Donnie Martin was 17th in 11.91.
Corning was 10th in the 4x200 relay in 1:49.95 and they were third in the 4x400 relay in 3:50.57 while the B team was seventh in 4:04.14.
Allen was tied for ninth in the high jump at 5-feet, 2-inches. Jaden Moore was 11th at 5-feet and Avery Wilcox was 16th at 4-feet, 6-inches tied with Parker Jacobus.
Max Jennings won the pole vault at 12-feet, followed by Ethan Wentzel at 11-feet. Calkins was fourth at 8-feet, 6-inches followed by Jacob Deneka at the same height.
Josh Fajardo was sixth in the triple jump at 35-feet, 10 1/2-inches followed by Blouin at 35-feet, 5-inches. Colten Ketchum was ninth at 33-feet, 2-inches.
Benjamin Herrman was second in the shot put at 40-feet, 7 1/2-inches with Logan Mullaney fifth at 39-feet, 3-inches followed by Jacob Blencowe at 38-feet, 11 1/4-inches and Austin Curreri at 38-feet, 7-inches. Freddie Collins was ninth at 37-feet, 11 1/2-inches with Gabe Ferratella 11th at 35-feet, 9-inches and Mitchell Elsey 14th at 33-feet, 1 1/2-inches followed by Liam Cain (32-feet, 9 1/2-inches) and Joseph Cimo (32-feet, 9 1/4-inches).
Collins won the weight throw at 46-feet, 3 1/4-inches followed by Kai Huttleston (45-feet, 3 1/4-inches) and Mullaney (43-feet, 7 1/2-inches). Herrman was sixth at 40-feet, 1 3/4-inches followed by Blencowe at 39-feet, 4 3/4-inches. Chase Caward was 11th at 35-feet, 9 3/4-inches and Zachary Miller was 13th at 33-feet, 1 1/4-inches followed by Cain at 32-feet, 1 1/4-inches.
