Southern Tier Sports Report ELMIRA — The Elmira Express got off to a fast start on their way to a 56-51 over state-ranked Union-Endicott.
Elmira moves to 4-0 on the year while Union-Endicott suffers their first loss to fall to 4-1 on the season.
Elmira led 16-4 after one quarter on their way to the win.
James Harris had five threes in the game, he had three in the opening quarter. Harris had 20 points, including 3-of-4 shooting from the line. He had six points, with a free throw and a three pointer in the fourth quarter to help seal the win.
Anthony Kitching had 11 points, including four in each the third and fourth quarter. He was 2-for-2 from the free throw line in the final quarter. Elmira made 4-of-5 free throws in the final quarter to help seal the win.
Zyquise Matias had nine points for Elmira and Julian Colon, Daeshaun Harris, Malaki Banks and Jha’micque Bell all had four points in the game.
Andre Williams had 16 points and Joseph Gennarelli had 13 points in the game for U-E. Both hit two threes in the game.
A 16-10 second quarter by the Tigers cut the deficit to 26-20 at the half, as the Tigers got within two in the second quarter. A 17-8 edge in the third quarter helped Elmira stretch the lead back to 43-28 heading into the foruth. ———— PHOTOS BY BRIAN FEES
