HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING: EDISON HAS SIX TOP-THREE FINISHERS AT C-S TOURNEY, GOLDEN MVP OF UPPERWEIGHTS (2024-12-16)
Southern Tier Sports ReportSAVONA — The Edison wrestling team had six top-three finishes as they wrestled at the Campbell-Savona Tournament.
Greg Golden went 5-0 with three pints and two technical falls on the day to take first place at 170 pounds and was named the most outstanding wrestler of the tournament for the upper weights (152-285).
Golden defeated Caden Hill of Dundee in the finals with a 16-1 technical fall win in 4:08. Hill entered the match 10-0 on the season.
Jace Schiller was the champion at 160 pounds, going 3-0 on the day. He beat Brian Buckley of Campbell-Savona in the finals, winning by fall in 2:54. Schiller had two pins on the day.
Austin Donahue was second at 116 pounds, going 3-1 on the day. He fell in the final to Conner Watson of Addison by fall in 4:59. All of Donahue’s wins were by fall in the first period.
Caden Southard took third at 190 pounds, going 4-1. Southard beat Kolton Butler of Canandaigua in the third-place match by fall in 53 seconds. All of Southard’s wins were by fall.
Daniel Cruz was third at 152 pounds, finishing the day 3-1. He beat Robert Clark of Corning 18-12 in the third-place match.
Aiden Quackenbush was third at 160 pounds going 2-1. He pinned Heberto Ortiz of Penn Yan in the third-place match in 48 seconds.
Freshman Matthew Wasicki was fifth at 124 pounds, going 4-2 on the day. He finished the day with four pins and beat Parker Kavanon of Owego by fall in 1:45 in the fifth-place match.
Levi Utter (152) and Cameron Richards (170) both went 0-3 on the day.
