HIGH SCHOOL BOYS' SWIMMING & DIVING: CORNING WINS TEAM TITLE AT ELMIRA INVITE (24 PHOTOS) (2024-12-16)
Southern Tier Sports ReportELMIRA — The Corning boys won the A division at the Elmira Swimming and Diving Invitational over the weekend.
Corning was at 428 and Horseheads was next at 343. Elmira took foruth at 86 points.
In the 200 medley relay Joey Crisco, Shawn De pedro, JP Sierzant and Marvin Reimsnyder took second for Corning in 1:42.45. Horseheasd was third in 1:46.57 with a team of Thang Tran, Thai Tran, Drake Ernst and Kegan Monahan. Elmira was 11th with a team of Cameron Eden, Zxander Gabriel, Jace Barr and Dayne Bush in 2:18.21.
Devin Sullivan of Horseheads was third in the 200 free in 1:55.98 and Corning’s Aaron Giardina was eighth in 2:08.66. Kegan Kent of Horseheads was 10th in 2:10.04 and teammate Diego Savash-Acuna was 12th in 2:11.46. Corning’s Jack Casper was 14th in 2:14.13 followed by Alexander Latocky of Horseheads in 2:14.53.
Crisco won the 200 IM in 2:03.76 and Thai Tran was third in 2:13.79. Corning’s Derek Guo was fifth in 2:19.84. Horseheads’ Liam Kane was 10th in 2:29.55 followed by teammate Joseph Wood in 2:32.39 followed by Corning’s Nicholas Matteson (2:35.19) and Winston Wiu in 2:35.39.
Reimsnyder was third in the 50 free in 22.80 and teammate Sierzant was sixth in 23.45 followed by Mark Hong of Corning in 23.69. Liam Gillof Corning was 10th in 24.28 followed by Horseheads’ Kiran Gulati in 24.33, Corning’s Clark in 24.58 and Monahan of Horseheads in 24.89.
De Pedro was third in the 100 fly in 58.17 and Reimsnyder was fifth in 58.34 followed by Thang Tran in 59.37. Ernst was eighth in 1:02.09. Corning’s John McKane was 10th in 1:04.31. Matteson was 14th in 1:09.82.
Sierzant was second in the 100 free in 50.84 and Sullivan was sixth in 51.44. Hong was eighth in 54.33 followed by Gulati (55.17) and Liam Gill of Corning in 55.19. Kent was 12th in 56.94 and Kaeden Martinez of Corning was 14th in 58.63 followed by Ethan Yarnell of Corning in 59.03.
Monahan was fifth in the 500 free in 5:45.22. Teammate Joseph Wood was eighth in 5:55.90 and Giardina was 10th in 5:57.41 folloewd by Casper (6:01.67).
Corning’s Crisco, Hong, Reimsnyder and Sierzant won the 200 free relay in 1:30.50 with Sullivan, Gulati, Ernst and Monahan won the 200 free relay in 1:30.50. Sullivan, Gulati, Ernst and Monahan took third in the 200 free relay in 1:35.90 while Gabriel, James Lovell, Cameron Eden and Jace Barr took ninth in 1:55.74.
Thang Tran was third in the 100 back in 59.86 followed by Corning’s McKane (1:00.20) and MJ Carro of Horseheads (1:02.12). Yarnell was seventh in 1:04.04 and teammate Martinez was ninth in 1:07.63. Kyle Williams of Corning was 12th in 1:08.84 followed by Avi Patel of Horseheas in 1:10.19.
Crisco won the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.06 followed by De Pedro in 1:02.77 and thai Tran of Horseheads in 1:03.22. Guo was seventh in 1:09.25. Corning’s Winston Wu was 12th in 1:12.24.
Hong, Gill, Guo and De Pedro took second in the 400 free relay in 3:34.50 and Sullivan, Gulati, Ernst and Thai Tran took fourth in 3:35.84. Bush, Lovell, Barr and Henry Mletzko of Corning took 10th in 4:40.52.
