HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING: ELMIRA HOSTS DAVE BUCK TOURNAMENT (2024-12-15)

ELMIRA — The Elmira Express hosted the Dave Buck Memorial Tournament over the weekend.

Horseheads had a number of JV wrestlers competing in the tournament.

Horseheads’ Mason Vanderhoff was runner-up at 101, getting a pin in 3:47 to make the title match. Elmira’s Nick Johnson was fourth at 101 and Carter McKernan was fifth. He won by fall in 1:18 in the fifth-place match.

Horseheads’ Noah Miller took fifth at 116 pounds. He had a pin in 46 secnds in the fifth-place match and a pin in 1:27 to get into the fifth-place match. Dom Romeo took 11th. He had a major decision 22-10 to get 11th.

Elmira’s Jayden Conklin finished eighth at 124 pounds.

Ryder DePadua-Reese of Elmira was third at 131 pounds. he had a pin in 3:10 in the third-place match. Adrian Bacon of Horseheads took fifth. He won 11-8 in the fifth-place match. Joel Scibek of Horseheads took eighth. Owen Bachert of Horseheads was 13th.

Lavonte Gibbons finished third at 138. He had a pin in 3:36 in the third-place match. Horseheads Aiden Culshaw was eighth at the weight. Elmira’s Ben Ben Guyette had a pin in 1:11 to take 13th.

Elmira’s Max Collins got a pin in 5:59 to take third at 145. Hunter Cleary of Elmira was third at 145B and Landon Wulff was fifth. Cleary had a fall and technical fall win on the day.

Scott Fairbanks took third at 152. He won 7-4 in the third place match. Tucker Burnette finished sixth. Aziz Gafsi of Horseheads took 10th. Cole Swanson took 12th with a pin in 4:52 in the 12th-plae match.

Josh Johnson of Elmira was eighth at 160. Arius Bradbury was 12th. Brayden Walton of HOrseheads was 14th.

Mason Mack of Elmira was ninth, winning by technical fall in 4:47 over teammate Maize Miller. Reilly Kelly was in the 11th-place match. The match wasn’t wrestled. James Tousley was 14th.

Connor Warrick had a pin in 41 seconds to take seventh at 190.

Zahkye Jankins of Elmira was runner-up at 215. He had a pin in 1:51 to get into the champinship match. Ethan Dziennik of Horseheads was 10th.

Brock Rosemark was seventh at 285 with a pin in 1:30 in the seventh-place match. Rashid Driscoll of Elmira won 11-7 in the ninth-place match.
