HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING: HORSEHEADS GOES 3-0 AT MARK STEPHENS TOURNEY (24 PHOTOS) (2024-12-06)

HORSEHEADS — The Horseheads wrestling team went 3-0 on the opening day of the Mark Stephens tournament on Friday night.

The Blue Raiders beat West Genesee 43-21 and they topped Bolivar-Richburg (63-11). and Monroe-Woodbury 33-26.

The Blue Raiders also had a second team in the tournament that went 0-3 on Friday.

The B team fell to Middletown 63-5 and they fell to West Genesee 48-19 and Monroe-Woodbury 51-13.

Against West Genesee the Blue Raiders got wins from Mason Vanderhoff, Josh Knapp, Tanner Knapp, Gavin Hornsby, Zachary Schrage, Coleton Owen, Jaxson Burchard, Hunter Lavigne and Seamus Carroll.

Josh Knapp won the technical fall, Schrage won by technical fall and Owen (3:59), Jaxson Burchard (2:29), Lavigne (4:39) and Seamus Carroll (14-8 major decison).

Nolan Miller got a forfeit win at 108 for Horseheads B against West Genesee and Jack Clate got a major decison of Brian Galvez 14-5. Allen Jenkins won 3-1 in sudden victory 1.

Against Bolivar-Richburg the Blue Raiders got a forfeit win by Mason Vanderhoof, Josh Knapp won 4-0, Tanner Knapp got a forfeit win, Nate Miller got a 28-second fall, Aiden Culshaw had a 1:45 pin, Schrage and Owen got forfeit wins. Lucas Mosher got a pin in 18 seconds, Lavigne had a 24-second pin and Carroll got a forfeit win.

Against Monroe Woodbury the B team got a forfeit win from Miller and Clate had a 14-5 major decisions and Jenkins had a 3-1 sudden victory.

Kole Zufall won 13-7 for Horseheads against Monroe-Woobury, while Schrage (:56), Owen (1:51), Jaxson Burchard (1:25) and Lavigne (1:52) all won by fall, while Josh Knapp won by forfeit.

Connor McAllister had a major decsion for Horseheads B against Middletown.
