COLLEGE WRESTLING: ELMIRA GRAD SMITH WINS TITLE AT JOURNEYMAN CLASSIC (2024-11-11)

BETHLEHEM, PA. — Elmira graduate Donavan Smith brought home the title in the 174D division at the Journeyman Collegiate Classic for Long Island University.

The red-shirt freshman beat Buffalo’s Dylan Schell 9-6 in the championship bout. Smith went 3-0 on the weekend.

Smith won 10 matches during his redshirt season a year ago. He was a two-time state finalist in high school.

Schell was a state champion in 2022 and was a NHSCA National runner-up.

Smith went 2-0 in pool B. He beat Dom Wheatley of Franklin & Marshall 9-4 and he topped Xander Koukkanen of Penn 4-2.
