STSR PRESENTS THE DRAKE HVAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: ND'S KEOUGH AND CORNING'S SMITH (2024-11-08)

Southern Tier Sports Report
There were a lot of great performances this week, leading to some tough choices for the first athlete of the week honors of the season. In the end, it was Notre Dame’s Makenna Keough and Clayton Smith of Corning who were named the Southern Tier Sports Report, sponsored by Drake HVAC Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning Athletes of the Week.

MAKENNA KEOUGH
Notre Dame, girls’ soccer
Had four goals in two games as the Notre Dame girls’ soccer team won a sectional title.

Scored the game-winner with under five minutes left in a win over Trumansburg in the final. Scored a hat trick, for all three of Notre Dame’s goals in a 3-1 win over Unatego in the semifinals.


CLAYTON SMITH
Corning, football
Ran 20 times for 151 yards as the Hawks beat Vestal to wrap up the regular season. Had two touchdowns in the game.

On defense he intercepted a pass and had four tackles in the win.
