SECTION 4 VOLLEYBALL: ELMIRA TOPS ITHACA IN 5 SETS TO HEAD BACK TO SECTIONAL FINAL (2024-11-06)

ITHACA — The Elmira girls’ volleyball team is headed back to a sectional final after a five-set win over Ithaca on Wednesday night.

The Express, who won last year’s final over Corning, will again meet the Hawks at 3 p.m. Sunday at Tioga Central.

Elmira rallied from down 1-0 and 2-1 on their way to the victory. The Express won 21-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-19, 17-15.

Hannah Matthews had 12 points and 10 digs and Aleah Leonberger had 38 assists and 23 points.

Madi Jones had 17 points, 15 digs and six kills and Camille Scoiners had six blocks, 13 points and seven kills.

Catherine Koski had 11 digs and Katy Longwell had three kills and four digs, while Ava Dennard had two kills, six points and 16 digs.
