COLLEGE WOMEN'S SWIMMING: CORNING'S MCKANE OFF TO STRONG START IN COLLEGE (2024-10-31)
Southern Tier Sports ReportCorning graduate Angie McKane is off to a dominant start at the collegiate level for the Army women’s swim team.
McKane, who was the athlete of the meet at last year’s state championships, helped Army pick up a trio of first-place finishes in a win over Boston College as she earned an individual win in the 50 free (23.58) and wa part to the winning 200 medley relay (1:44.56) and 400 free relay (3:30.15).
In a meet against Minnesota she took third in the 100 fly in 54.42 and was part of a 2nd place 400 free relay (3:22.41) and third-place 200 medley relay (1:41.58).
Against Vermont and CCSU McKane won the 50 free (23.67) and 100 back (58.01) and helped the 200 medley relay win in 1:44.18.
McKane’s college career started in style as she earned the women’s Patriot League Swimmer of the Week after her collegiate debut.
McKane had three first-place finishes, 50 fly (24.61), 100 fly (54.36) and 500 free relay (4:20.27). Her 100 fly stood as the sixth fastest in program history and her 50 butterfly earned her the top spot by more than a second.
