COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL: AREA GRADUATES SHINE FOR CC HOOPS (2021-11-23)

A group of local athletes helped Corning Community College sweep SUNY Adirondack and Hudson Valley over the weekend.

The Red Barons are now 4-1 on the season in NJCAA Region III play.

On Saturday Elmira graduate Bryce Smith led the way with 18 points and fellow Elmira graduate Cameron Rhode had 10 points and two threes, while Corning graduate Markel Jenkins had 11 points and six boards.

On Sunday Smith had 14 points with a career high 16 rebounds.

In the first game Elmira graduate Devin Dennard had four points and five rebounds off the bench, while Corning graduate Ben Bouton had two points and and he blocked two shots.

In the Sunday game Dennard had nine points and three rebounds off the bench and Rhode had five points and Jenkins had seven points and six boards, with two assists.

CCC beat Adirondack 98-60 and they beat Hudson Valley 84-79.

Smith averages 12.1 points a game this year and Jenkins averages 4.8 points. Rhode averages 2.4 points and Dennard puts up 5.7 a game, while Bouton scores .8 points a game.

Smith averages a double-double for CCC, adding 10.1 rebounds a game and Dennard averages 2.7 rebounds. Smith also averages .6 blocks a game. Jenkins averages 3.8 rebounds a game and Rhode averages 2.1 assists a game, w while Bouton averages .8 rebounds a game.
