STAC GIRLS' BASKETBALL: ELMIRA GETS PREPPED FOR SEASON WITH SCRIMMAGE AGAINST EDISON (24 PHOTOS) (2021-11-23)

Southern Tier Sports Report
ELMIRA — After a week of practice the Elmira girls got a chance to see where they stand as they scrimmaged Edison on Monday.

“It’s nice,” Elmira coach A’Don Allen III said. “You go the first week or so going against one another, so it’s nice to be able to play against a different team, get different looks.

“When you are in practice your teammates know what you are going to do so when you play against a team that doesn’t know you, you get to see if we can actually execute. It’s good, it’s good energy. Chris (Mallette) runs a good program there, they are on the up. They are going to be very good in their league, so it’s a good start for us.”

The Express have a lot of experience on their team, but they also have some newer faces and scrimmages like Monday are a good chance for them to get used to the varsity level.

“We have a very veteran crew, but we have some young girls coming up, so it’s nice to see them get their feet wet at the varsity level and work out the kinks.

“We have another scrimmage Friday up at Jamesville Dewitt, which will be a little different. It’s nice to be able to get going and get practice. You are in practice all the time, but it’s nice to get some game-time action.”
