EIGHT-MAN FOOTBALL: EDISON HEADS ON THE ROAD TO TAKE ON MORAVIA (2024-10-11)

Southern Tier Sports Report
MORAVIA — It’s been a big two weeks for the Edison football team after back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Now, the Spartans are on the road facing a tough test as they head to Moravia to face a team coming off back-to-back wins over Groton and Trumansburg.

“They are super excited after back-to-back wins,” Edison coach Kyle Erickson said. “That is now behind us and we are focused on the new week.

“Our team is ready for the test. We know this will be a tough battle and against one of the best teams in eight-man football.”

Winning on homecoming for the first time in seven years a week ago gives the Spartans some added confidence going into the game.

“You are always more confident coming off a win ,but I believe it gives us some momentum because we were able to put a completely rounded game together.”

The Spartans know they face a tough test this week.

“They are a very tough team and they are always well coached,” Erickson said. “We expect them to try and pass the ball early and often.

“Defensively we must not allow the big plays and must contain their big wide receivers. Offensively we must control the ball and put drives together. We must take advantage of any early opportunities to score.”
