SECTION 4 FOOTBALL: ELMIRA READY TO PLAY HOST TO U-E (2024-10-11)

ELMIRA — The Elmira Express football team was coming off back-to-back wins, before falling on homecoming to Horseheads a week ago.

The Express got back to work and are ready to host Union-Endicott today.

“We are excited about football,” Elmira coach Jimmy McCauley said. “Every week we learn more and more about this year’s group. We try to improve as much as possible.”

While Union-Endicott is winelss this year, the Express know this will still be a tough test.

“UE is a hungry team,” McCauley said. “We expect a tough game. They have been in every game this year. They have tough kids.”

The Express know the run game will be key.

“We believe that if we can run the ball, stop the run, and create turnovers, we will be in a good spot,” McCauley said.
