IAC GIRLS' SOCCER: NOTRE DAME FALLS AGAINST STATE-RANKED WATKINS GLEN (2024-10-10)
Southern Tier Sports ReportSOUTHPORT — The Notre Dame girls’ soccer team held a 2-1 lead for a good portion of time, but in the end they came up short against Watkins Glen 4-2 on Thursday.
“We had a 2-1 lead for some time,” Notre Dame coach Joe Picco said. “I thought we played great soccer for 60 minutes. Unfortunately, our inexperience got the best of us. Watkins Glen’s maturity and experience up top was the difference.
“A game of this caliber came at the right time for us. Hopefully the loss can serve a puprose.”
Watkins Glen is ranked eighth in the state in Class B. Notre Dame is ranked 20th in Class C.
McKenna Keough and MK Young had the goals for Notre Dame in the game.
