IAC GIRLS' SOCCER: EDISON TURNS IN STRONG EFFORT IN LOSS TO SVEC (2024-10-10)

Southern Tier Sports Report
ELMIRA HEIGHTS — The Edison girls’ soccer team got 10 saves in goal, but fell to SVEC 4-0 on Thursday night.

Kaylynn Darby had eight saves and Matteson Brush had two saves in goal as the Spartans turned in a strong effort the second time they played SVEC this year.

“We continued our trend of showing a much-improved effort when playing a team for the second time this season,” Edison coach Kevin Weber said. “We defended very well within the midfield, which allowed us to once again find more opportunities to maintain forward possession and create scoring chances.

“After being run off their field a few weeks ago, the ability to keep tonight’s match a battle throughout is a testament to our group’s continued growth and development as a team.”

SVEC had 17 shots and three corners and Edison had five shots and one corner kick.

Nicole Poli had four saves for SVEC in the game.
