WOMEN'S COLLEGE SOCCER: MAGICAL RUN ENDS FOR ELMIRA GRAD KRAWCZYK & WILLIAMS COLLEGE IN NCAA QUARTERS (2021-11-21)
Southern Tier Sports ReportThe run came to an end for Elmira graduate Ireland Krawczyk and the William Smith women’s soccer team, but what a run it was.
The season ended for the William Smith soccer team with 19 wins and they came up just one goal short of a spot in the state final four.
William Smith won their first game in the NCAA Tournament 9-0 over John Jay College, and then they won 2-1 over Hamilton College, who was ranked 17th.
In the next round they beat Misericordia 5-4 in two overtimes. Misericordia was ranked fourth in the nation and William Smith was ranked third. The win was the 18th straight for William Smith, who finished the year 19-2-1.
In the end it was a 1-0 loss to the nation’s top-ranked team The College of New Jersey that saw the run end.
Krawczyk started all four games during the run. On the season the Elmira graduate played in 20 games, with 17 starts as a freshman. She had five shots on goal during the season.
