HIGH SCHOOL BOYS' SOCCER: CORNING PICKS UP ROAD WIN AT NIAGARA-WHEATFIELD (2024-10-05)

NIAGARA WHEATFIELD — The Corning boys’ soccer team took a long bus trip and came away with a 5-0 win over Niagara Wheatfield in non-league soccer action.

Taylor Freelove had two goals and James Goodman, Seaver Nellis and Landyn Proudfoot had goals in the win.

Alex Large, Brandon Ogunwumi, Grayson Timmons and Charlie Warner had assists for the Hawks in the game.

Corning had 12 shots and five corners and Niagara Wheatfield had two shots and three corner kicks.

Ben Hufnagel and Isaac Anderson each had a save for Corning and Ethan Osetowski had seven saves for Niagara Wheatfield.

“We continue to get a little bit more healthy,” Corning coach Chad Freelove said. “Long bus ride to play a quality team and earn a desirable outcome is great. The defense did a nice job of stymying opportunities for Niagara.

“Tomorrow the group will have some fun together working the mile 25 water station for the Wineglass Marathon. it is always a great time paying it forward.”
