STAC BOYS' SOCCER: WHEELER'S TWO GOALS, ANOTHER SHUTOUT IN NET LIFT ELMIRA PAST HORSEHEADS (24 PHOTOS) (2024-09-19) Southern Tier Sports Report ELMIRA —Elmira got a pair of goals from Spencer Wheeler, one of them a spectacular bicycle kick, and the Express beat Horseheads 2-0 in boys’ soccer action.
“Outstanding defensive performance from Anthony Kitchen, Riley O’Herron, Brody Hamilton and Chase Christian. They cut out a number of dangerous attacking sequences to keep Horseheads off the board.
“Luca Capilli and Kaelan Brenen-Buseck’s defensive play in the midfield was outstanding as well. Spencer Wheeler’s two goals were absolute class.”
Elmira got on the board in the first half when a ball got flipped up to Wheeler by Dom Capilli and he hit a perfectly placed bicycle kick to make it 1-0 at the half. He then added a goal in the second half as well.
