COLLEGE FOOTBALL: CORNING GRAD FREEMAN IV MAKES THIRD-TEAM ALL-EMPIRE 8 (2021-11-18)
Southern Tier Sports ReportCorning graduate Max Freeman IV was named to the All-Empire 8 third-team on offense on Thursday for his play as a freshman this season.
Freeman was one of 13 Alfred players to get recognized by the Empire 8 Conference.
The Corning graduate led the rushing attack for Alfred, totaling 575 rushing yards and three scores on 115 carries this year. HIs rushing attempts were fourth in the conference, while he finished sixth in the conference in rushing.
Freeman was named as the Empire 8 Co-Offensive Player of the Week on October 18 following a performance of 167 rushing yards and a touchdown in a 38-35 win over St. John Fisher.
Freeman was one of three Corning players to play for Alfred this year. Blake Van Woert was a sophomore quarterback, who was 22-for-55 passing for 266 yards and a touchdown.
Sam Wakeman is a freshman from Corning and he had 25 tackles and a 1/2 of a tackle for a loss this year. He finished the year with four pass breakups.
