CROSS COUNTRY: HORSEHEADS BOYS TAKE 3RD IN VARSITY RACE AT DASH IN THE DARK; CORNING DOMINATES MIDDLE SCHOOL RACE (24 PHOTOS) (2024-09-14)

OWEGO --- The Horseheads boys took third in the large-school varsity division at the Owego Dash in the Dark Meet, and the Corning modified boys turned in ad dominant performance.

Horseheads had 38 points and Ithaca won at 15. Corning, with a group of JV runners, took eighth in the varsity race in 205 followed by Elmira in 220.

Edison was ninth in small school at 232. NEB won at 35 points.

Horseheads’ Allen Wetmore was 18th in 13:55.3 and teammate Gavin Hornsby was 23rd in 14:15, while teammate Max Williams was 26th in 14:23.5.

Horseheads’ Luke Dordoni was 37th in 14:42.5 and teammate Hunter Lewis was 48th in 15:01.1. Horseheads’ Joseph Juan was 54th in 15:15.1, while Elmira’s James Lovell was 58th in 15:22.1 followed by Horseheads’ Logan Hornsby in 15:22.8. Horseheads’ Finn Van Buskirk was 62nd in 15:296. Edison’s Jameson Duggan was 65th in 15:36.7.

Elmira’s Ayden Coleman was 74th in 16:01.6 and Corning’s Dominic Griffin was 78th in 16:17.5 while Corning’s Thomas VanSlyke was 82nd in 16:15.

Corning’s Caleb Keefer was 86th in 16:39.7 and teammate Benjamin Mahon was 92nd in 16:53.5, while teammate Reed Fuchs was 96th in 16:58.3.

Edison’s Kaleb Podoliak was 100th in 17:04.8 followed by Elmira’s Henry Mletzko (17:05.3) and Corning’s Dominik Davis (17:06.1).

Edison’s Zachary Sternfels was 109th in 17:18.4 and teammate Augustus Ector was 111th in 17:19.1 followed by Corning’s Edward Witt in 17:23.2.

Elmira’s Aaron Skinkle was 119th in 17:36. Elmira’s Wally Ferriter was 135th in 18:38.8 and Edison’s Carter Smith was 137th in 18:51.6. Carson Balash of Edison was 140th in 19:07 followed by Elmira’s Jaydan Roberts in 19:07.4. Edison’s Dillan Allyn-Noble was 157th in 21:39.1.

Corning took the top two spots in large school modified and seven of the top eight spots.

Corning had 18 points to win, Ithaca was second at 60. Horseheads was sixth at 154 followed by Elmira at 189.

Keith Huff of Corning won in 9:48 followed by teammate Charlie Wukovitz at the same time. Andrew Miller of Corning was third in 9:58 followed by teammates Isaac Ballard (10:08), Connor Harrington (10:09), Elijah Sonner (10:30) and Ryan Madden (10:35).

Corning’s Britton Chapman was 13th in 10:58. Corning’s Sylas Ruza was 20th in 11:11 and teammate Jax Adams was 24th in 11:18.

Horseheads’ Brayden Slavin was 31st in 11:40 and Corning’s Nathaniel Carlton was 34th in 11:46 with teammate Maxwell Keegan 37th in 11:47.

Horseheads’ Tanner Findley was 41st in 11:50 followed by teammate Noah Cloke in 11:52. Horseheads’ Cruze Owen was 44th in 11:56 followed by Elmira’s Aydin Butters in 12:06. Elmira’s Emry Bahantka was 47th in 12:10 and Elmira’s Isaac Miller was 52nd in 12:36. Corning’s John Shanchuk was 57th in 12:48 and Horseheads’ Daniel Mosher was 64th in 13:13.

Corning’s Braedyn Copp was 67th in 13:28 with Horseheads’ Landon Andrews 70th in 13:38. Elmira’s Xavier Keough was 71st in 13:43 and Horseheads’ Michael Christmas was 75th in 13:50 followed by Elmira’s Adam Loftus.

Elmira’s Landon Stein was 83rd in 14:18 followed by teammate Alexander Barletta (14:20 and Corning’s Garrett Smith (14:20). Corning’s Lillian Bisson was 89th in 14:43 and Horseheads’ Mason Dispense was 92nd in 15:00.

Horseheads’ Chase Barnstead was 97th in 15:39 followed by Corning’s Ben Yang (15:42) and Chase Reed (15:48). Corning’s Ben Stumper was 104th in 16:40.

Edison’s boys finished fifth in the samll school modified race at 126 points. Northeast Bradford won at 15 points.

Edison’s Mark Schillo was 17th in 11:50 with teammate Grayson Margeson 24th in 12:05. Edison’s Camden Smith was 45th in 13:15 and teammate Jeremiah Hubschmit was 53rd in 13:55. Edison’s Sawyer Burleigh was 63rd in 15:18 and teammate Cyrus Bidwell was 67th in 15:55.

In the boys JV race Horseheads took third at 80 points. Ithaca won at 24. Corning was ninth at 257 points.

Horseheads’ Andrew Beck was fourth in 14:19.6 and teammate Drake Ernst was 19th in 15:27.9 with teammate Dominick Marino 21st in 15:37.4.

Horseheads’ John Sydlansky was 26th in 15:47.2 and teammate Joshua Knapp was 31st in 16:05.2 followed by teammate Abdiel Basabakwi in 16:07.3.

Joel Scibek of Horseheads was 39th in 16:18.6 and teammate Tanner Knapp was 44th in 16:34.6 and teammate Keegan Dart was 54th in 16:44.8.

Horseheads’ Nick Fears was 63rd in 17:24.7 and teammate Tobias Tremble was 67th in 17:29.6 with teammate RJ Bigelow 69th in 17:33.1. Horseheads’ Nolan Miller was 77th in 17:52.4 and Christian Scibek was 79th in 17:54.7.

Corning’s Brock Allington was 84th in 18:07.9 and Horseheads’ Jack Clate was 94th in 18:47.8 followed by teammate Aaron Kaiser in 18:52.9. Corning’s Wyatt Smith was 98th in 19:03.2 with Horseheads’ Dexter Bell 100th in 19:08.6.

Horseheads’ Nate Hall was 109th in 19:28 and Corning’s Ethan Julien was 112th in 19:37.6  and Horsheads’ Deren Dubuque was 116th in 19:48.5 followed by Corning’s William McConnell (19:48.8). Corning’s Benedict hacker was 119th in 20:04.8 followed by teammate Dwayne Gardiner in 20:12.8.

Corning’s Ethan Smith was 126th in 20:40.9. Edison’s Levi Utter was 138th in 21:40.8 and teammate Jordan Elliott was 143rd in 23:24.9. Edison’s Shawn Kelly was 148th in 24:50.8 and teammate Blake Bogart was 151st in 25:55.2.
